The Evolution Jazz Archtop brings you the iconic tone of the hollow-body jazz guitar, a staple of traditional and modern jazz ensembles. The archtop guitar also features prominently in other styles of music such as R&B, pop, Latin and funk. The Evolution Jazz Archtop covers all of these styles with its flexible and highly customizable approach.
Extensively sampled, the Evolution Jazz Archtop features multiple looping algorithms in both pick directions and three dynamic layers for a wide range of expressiveness. These features include articulations such as sustains, palm mutes, fully muted notes, and natural harmonics.
The library also includes advanced performance techniques such as legato articulations and effects such as string slaps, dive bombs, fret noises, and more.
In developing the Evolution Jazz Archtop, we teamed up with Rosewood Recording Company, one of Utah’s most venerable recording studios. Guy Randle, owner and engineer at Rosewood Recording Company, uses analog audio equipment to skillfully shape and highlight the rich tonal qualities of the guitar. For the sampling session, Guy Randle worked with Rich Dixon, an award-winning session guitarist, international performer, and jazz theory/improvisation teacher.
The Evolution Jazz Archtop features our Evolution guitar engine, which puts a wealth of customization at your fingertips: an innovative pattern editor, automatic chord detection, and a robust effects engine. The library includes a variety of factory presets for ready-to-use classic and modern jazz guitar tones, designed to fit perfectly into a mix.
- Built-in effects engine for instantly usable jazz guitar tones
- Adjustable pick position using our proprietary physical modeling technology
- Powerful mapping system that lets you set how you want to trigger articulations using conditions like velocity ranges, MIDI CCs, latching and non-latching keyswitches, and more
- Multi-track playback up to quadruple tracking
- 3.96 GB (compressed to 1.39 GB using the lossless NCW audio format) of 24-bit samples
- Articulations like sustains, palm mutes, ducks, natural harmonics, plus special effects like string strikes, dive bombs, and more
- MIDI articulations for instant octaves, grace notes, buzz trills, whole-step slides, whole-step hammer-ons, and slides (velocity-based and tempo-synced)
- Legato samples for slides, hammer-ons and pull-offs
- Articulations have 3 dynamics and 4 cyclical steps.
Added:
- Ability to lock individual settings and articulations, allowing you to switch snapshot presets without overwriting specific settings and mapped articulations. Old Lock Mapping setting removed. If this setting was used in existing projects, the new version will automatically switch them to use the individual locking options
- New Performance Effect Keys setting lets you control the range of keys mapped to performance effects
- Tooltips
Improved:
- Efficiency of the fretboard display
- Interval names in the pitch bend and legato range settings have been replaced with semitones
- Capo position now modulates the chord sound
- Open string legato mode now allows not only pull-offs to open strings, but also hammer-ons from open strings to higher notes on the fretboard
Fixed:
- A bug with dynamic memory when canceling a sustain articulation (try using one of the MIDI articulations, such as slide)
- A bug affecting the Velocity Slide articulation in combination with the sustain pedal pressed
