The 821A is the first multitrack tape transport that does not use a transformer. It has no axle or pinch roller, so the tape can move freely without any resistance or degradation of the audio signal.
For the first time, engineers and producers could hear the physics of the recording process without the interference of unnecessary electronics.
They could enjoy the unaltered sound of the tape and give their clients a clearer idea of what was captured in the studio.
The P821 MDN tape is based on Mark Daniel Nelson’s personal 2-inch Stephens 821 tape machine, which was used in the studio of the producer known for creating such iconic albums as The Wall, Aja, Rumours and others.
The signature sound of the P821 is very open and has a distinct sonic character, as the tape machine has very little electronics and no transformers, which makes the soundstage massive and does not require aggressive compression or clamping. This is the first plug-in of its kind in which you can use
- Zero sample delay compensation with modulation off or 1.1 ms with modulation on.
- Two legendary tape recording formulas: 900 and 456.
- Speed: 15 and 30 ips.
- True tape hiss generator (no noise).
- Pre/Post shelf EQ.
- Low and High bias controls.
- Dual I/O needle VU meter.
- Tape delay circuit with feedback and filtering.
- Wow & Flutter (slow/fast) modulation circuit with tape flanging.
The Witch says,
Until we return, we will not update plugins from Pulsar Modular.
If you need updates, just download the official installer from the developer.
