Harmonic Tides is an ethereal string library created from the delicate overtones of cello and double bass. The library was developed in collaboration with composer Piers Constanti specifically for cinema, aiming to create an expressive, textured timbre ideal for soundtracks. Its goal is to offer the same emotional, versatile and detailed instrumentation as a traditional orchestral palette, but with an emphasis on modern arrangements and powerful, undulating soundscapes.

Harmonic Tides features two sound sources. The first is the shimmering cello overtones – airy, iridescent glissandos that create a sense of organic movement. Each note is recorded in four dynamic layers. The second is the resonance of the double bass strings – a sharp timbre that adds tension and cinematic anxiety to the music. Both sets of articulations cover a wide dynamic and chromatic range, allowing them to be performed live on MIDI controllers with maximum expression.

Although Harmonic Tides is based on classical instruments, unconventional performance techniques and processing completely transform their sound. Cellos and double basses have been recorded in maximum detail, and up to eight layers of solo parts create a three-dimensional sound. Combined with effects, the result is more reminiscent of atmospheric drones or synthesized pads than an orchestra – perfectly integrated into modern arrangements. Additionally, we have included detailed leads, pads, short notes, stingers and rich textures in the library. Harmonic Tides is not just an instrument, but a whole ocean of emotions, ready to burst into your music.
