It takes you back to the early 1970s, when soul beats mixed with funk and rock guitars, and the analog recording process was an integral part of the sound. Expect grooves to die for, bass lines that will make you move, and funky guitars full of wow. And all of this is routed through an analog signal chain to give the sound an authentic, rich tape character. It’s an atmosphere that has filled samplers and found its way into countless hip-hop, breakbeat, RnB and dance tracks from the 1980s onwards.
Comprehensive Production Kits
The library contains 704 loops, spread across five Production Kits and a total of 3 GB. The instrument section includes electric guitars and basses accompanied by organs, strings and electric piano. Drums are provided as pre-mixed loops, as well as separate tracks for kick drum (in and out), snare (top, bottom and trigger), hi-hat, cymbals, toms, overheads and room. The tempos in the five Production Kits cover the range of 104-110 BPM, giving a slightly faster feel. Each of the Kits contains several main sections (4-6), as well as intros and outros. Each section also contains a variety of performance variations, with some loops as long as 16 bars or 36 seconds, making it easy to create full song-length arrangements.
Groove-filled rhythms
The recording process provides flexibility for the producer. For those looking to apply some modern audio processing, DI guitar and electric bass options are included. However, recordings from mics and amps convey the authentic analog sound of the 70s. With the natural warmth and overdrive provided by tape saturation, overdriven amps and analog gear inserted into its sonic sweet spot, Rare Grooves Vol. 2 sounds like the real deal.
